Gardaí examine three crime scenes in Meath shooting probe

Five men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting a man with dissident republican links in Co Meath.

The married, father-of-three was shot dead in the car park of a bar near Gormanstown at around 2.30pm this afternoon.

Gardaí said three crime scenes are currently being examined as part of the investigation.

The scene of today's gun attack, outside the Huntsman Inn bar near Gormanstown, close to the M1 motorway, remains sealed off this evening.

The victim, who was aged in his mid 30s and came from Co Louth, was killed while sitting in a car.

Superintendent Dave Taylor from the Garda Press Office said Gardaí intercepted a car as it drove away from the scene of the shooting.

The Deputy State Pathologist Khalid Jaber has carried out a preliminary examination of the man's body, while two other crime scenes close to where the shooting occurred, are being examined.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information about the attack to contact them.
