Gardaí discover €60,000 worth of drugs during routine checkpoint stop

Gardaí in Wicklow conducting a routine speed checkpoint found three large bags of cannabis herb yesterday evening.

Gardaí stopped the black Ford Focus on the M11 at Ashford.

The vehicle was seized under Section 41 of Road Traffic Act and subsequently searched before the drugs were discovered.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is estimated at €60,000.

S man aged in his late 40s was arrested at the scene and is being detained under Section 2 of Drug Trafficking Act at Wicklow Garda Station.
