Gardaí arrest man after attack on woman in Sligo

Gardaí are investigating an attack on a woman in Sligo town.

The victim who is in her late 20's sustained serious wounds to the head and was stabbed in the stomach in the Market Yard at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

She has been taken to Sligo General Hospital and a man has been arrested in connection with the incident after he was detained on the Mail Coach Road.
