Gardaí appeal for witnesses after attack on young woman

Gardaí in Raheny in Dublin are investigating an assault on a woman in her 20s.

It happened in the early hours of Tuesday, May 3, between the junctions of the causeway Dollymount Beach and the Howth Road.

The woman was walking when a man grabbed her and pulled her to the ground.

A passing motorist came to her assistance and her attacker ran off. The motorist, a middle-aged man, then dropped her at her home in Kilbarrack.

The suspect who may have been in his late 40s, was short with black hair.

He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with white stripes and spoke with a Dublin accent.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Raheny Garda Station on 01 666 4300 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

Gardaí said they also wish to speak to the motorist who came to the woman’s assistance.
