Gardaí appeal for information after woman assaulted in Mayo

Gardaí are appealing for information about an aggravated burglary in Co Mayo during which a woman was assaulted.

Two masked men armed with knives burst into the house in Charlestown near Swinford just after 11pm on Friday night.

They assaulted the woman who lived there a number of times and demanded to know where her partner was, but eventually left the house empty-handed.

The first man is said to be around 6 foot tall and was wearing a red and green jacket. The second man was wearing a dark tracksuit.

It is not known how the men made their getaway.

Gardaí in Swinford are investigating.
