Gardaí in Monaghan are appealing for witnesses to an aggravated burglary at a house in Castleblaney.

Four men entered the house at Killycard at 5.30pm yesterday and threatened the occupants of the house.

Two women and four young children were in the house at the time.

One of the women suffered head injuries and had to receive treatment at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen a Silver Opel Vectra in the Shercock Road area between 5pm and 6pm yesterday.

It is believed a 5th person was driving the car.
