Eight million cigarettes have been seized in a cross border operation.

The cigarettes, which have an estimated retail value of €3.5m, were recovered as they were being unloaded from a 40ft container at a warehouse in Armagh last night.

The container had arrived in a consignment marked as office furniture at Dublin Port on Monday.

Two men have been arrested.
