Garda killed in Wicklow crash

A member of the Gardaí has been killed in a crash in Co Wicklow.

The garda was off duty at the time. It is understood the officer, a sergeant, was returning home to Greystones from night duty when the crash occurred.

An investigation has been launched by the Garda Ombudsman Commission.

The single-vehicle crash happened at about 8am today on the N11 near NewtownmountKennedy.

There was nobody else in the vehicle at the time.
