Freezing conditions expected to reach minus four  tonight

Temperatures are due to plummet as far as minus four tonight as the freezing conditions continue.

An orange snow-ice warning remains in effect for counties Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo with snow accumulations of between four and eight centimetres expected.

Gerry Murphy from Met Eireann has the outlook for tonight: “A very cold night, temperatures dropping as far as minus three, minus four degrees with the frost.

“But it will be dry and we can expect a largely dry and cold day on Saturday too with more frost on Saturday night and thing tending to be that much milder on Sunday.”
