Four held after cannabis seizures

Four men are being held under drug trafficking legislation after cannabis herb was seized in three counties yesterday. The seizures have a total value of €120,000.

Shortly after 2pm yesterday afternoon gardaí stopped and searched a car on Main Street in Dunboyne, Co. Meath and recovered 3kg of cannabis herb.

In a follow up search at a premises in Dunboyne, a further 2kg of cannabis were found.

Gardaí then searched a house in Huntstown in Dublin, where they recovered 5kg of the drug.

Another kilo was found following a search of a house in Athlone.

A total of four men were arrested under drug trafficking legislation. Two are aged in their 20s while two are in their 40s. They can be questioned for up to seven days.

The operation involved members of the National Drugs Unit and the Organised Crime Unit.
