The former head of the Irish Association of Suicidology is due to be sentenced today for stealing over €36,000 from the organisation.
Declan Behan from Slane, Co. Meath admits taking the money but says he used it to pay for groceries and utility bills.
He began withdrawing from the charity's account for his own benefit in early 2010.
Over the course of the next two years, he made withdrawals amounting to more than €36,000 from various ATMs.
His lawyer said it was used to pay for things like groceries and petrol and has since been paid back in full.
