Fishermen to protest at Cork Airport cargo terminal

Fishermen are protesting at Cork Airport today to draw attention to what they say is a major crisis in their industry.

The move follows a separate demonstration yesterday outside Government Buildings in Dublin by around 400 fishermen.

They say their livelihoods are under serious threat due to spiralling diesel prices and other issues.

Today's rally is due to take place at Cork Airport's cargo terminal, where fish imports arrive from abroad, and the fishermen say they will not disrupt the passenger terminals.

Other protests are also planned for Dunmore East, Kinsale, Galway city and Killybegs to highlight the extent of the difficulties being faced by the fishing industry.
