FG trying to denigrate my character, says angry George Lee

Former TD George Lee has today accused Fine Gael of trying to denigrate his character by suggesting he left politics because the money was not good enough.

He was responding to remarks by party frontbencher Brian Hayes who suggested that Mr Lee resigned after expressing concern about a reduction in his income.

Mr Lee has responded that if he wanted money he would have stayed in politics, where expenses are unvouched, pensions are lucrative, and ministerial salaries are handsome.
