Fermanagh car bomb had 60kg of explosives

Police in the North have confirmed that a bomb found in a car in Co Fermanagh yesterday consisted of 60 kilogrammes of homemade explosive contained in a beer keg.

Officers discovered the viable device in a silver Vauxhall Bora car on the Derrylin road in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The car and the bomb have been taken for further forensic investigation.

Local politicians said the bomb could have caused "carnage" had it detonated.

Dissident republicans are being blamed.
