ESB confirms electricity price rise

It has been confrimed that electricity prices will rise at the beginning of next month.

The ESB has said it is required to impose a levy on all customers from October 1.

That will result in a hike of almost 5% in annual electricity costs for households.

The ESB said, despite the level, electricity prices will still be 7% below those of October 2008.
