Eight-year-old boy dies after being struck by car while walking to school

A boy has died after a car struck his mother and her six children as they walked to school in Co Antrim.

It happened on the Loughill Road in the village of Cloughmills, near Ballymena this morning.

The deceased boy has been named as eight-year-old Adam Gilmour.

His mother was taken to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine, where she is in a serious condition.

The other children are stable or have been discharged from hospital - one was not injured.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
