Eight million smuggled cigarettes seized in Meath

Eight million smuggled cigarettes with a retail value of around €3m have been seized in Co Meath.

The seizure was made by gardaí and customs officers in the Ashbourne area last night.

The cigarettes were in a consignment from Rotterdam which had been under surveillance.

Customs officers are questioning a number of people in connection with the find.
