Education Minister O'Keeffe makes Brussels trip

New Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe will today meet his EU counterparts for the first time in Brussels.

Ministers from the 27 member states are due to discuss multilingualism and adult learning.

Plans to designate 2009 as the European Year of Creativity and Innovation will also be on the agenda.

The Cork North West TD was promoted to Education and Science Minister by Taoiseach Brian Cowen on May 7.

The former college lecturer took Dáil questions from Opposition TDs for the first time yesterday.
