Digger used to steal two ATMs in Cavan

A digger has been used to steal two ATMs and a substantial sum of money in Co Cavan.

A tractor carrying the digger arrived in Cootehill at around 5.30am this morning.

Two ATMs, one from the Bank of Ireland in the town and the other from the Ulster Bank branch, were removed from the buildings by a gang.

Gardaí say substantial damage has been caused.

An investigation is underway and no arrests have been made.
