Designer store announces Christmas vacancies

The Brown Thomas Group today announced plans to take on 150 temporary staff over Christmas.

Management revealed it would advertise job vacancies for its exclusive designer Brown Thomas store on Dublin’s Grafton Street, as well as its nearby BT2 store, BT2 Dundrum and BT2 Blanchardstown.

A spokeswoman said the temporary positions were both full-time and part-time to cover the Christmas and New Year period.

“The company is recruiting for several functions including sales and sales support, beauty consultants, cashiers, gift wrapping and stockroom personnel,” she added.

Interested candidates will be able to log onto www.brownthomas.com/careers from tomorrow.

Latest official figures have shown more than 440,000 people are claiming benefits this month, with the unemployment rate falling to 13.7%.

Yesterday, more than 400 people lined up outside Dublin’s iconic Shelbourne Hotel hoping to secure just 40 jobs that were on offer.
