Dáil officially rejects 1916 public holiday proposal

The Dáil has officially rejected a call for a public holiday next year for the 1916 commemorations.

Sinn Féin had put forward proposals for 'Lá na Poblachta' to take place on April 24 next year and each year thereafter.

However, the move was rejected by the Coalition and it has been voted down by 82 votes to 37.
