The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said his key focus in the coming weeks will be on job creation and protection.
Mr Cowen is meeting the heads of 11 State agencies including the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and FAS later today.
The Taoiseach issued a statement ahead of today's meeting, saying we have to be "confident, positive and determined".
Mr Cowen said Ireland has to "believe in ourselves if we want other people to believe in us, invest with us and trade with us".
It comes just a day after it was confirmed that the number of long-term unemployed has almost doubled, with 127,000 people out of work for over a year
The Taoiseach has convened today's meeting to offer his full support to the State agencies, and he says he wants to ensure there is the sharpest possible focus on job creation across all parts of government.
