Taoiseach Brian Cowen said today that he accepts the public shock and anger over the scale of the bailout for Anglo Irish Bank.
The Central Bank today revealed the final cost to the taxpayer will be at least €29.3bn - and could rise to €34bn in a worst case scenario.
Mr Cowen said the Government will soon outline a four-year Budgetary plan which he insisted will bring home the reality the country faces.
However the Taoiseach said there is no other option than to address the crisis, which he admitted is one of the biggest in the history of the country.
The Taoiseach is warning tough measures will have to be taken to ensure Ireland maintains control over its own affairs.
