The Government has come under attack from the Opposition this morning during the first Dáil session since the summer recess.
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny accused Taoiseach Brian Cowen of mishandling the economy and presiding over a gross waste of public money.
Labour leader Eamon Gilmore, meanwhile, said the Government had failed to take a single piece of action to address a worrying number of job loses over the summer.
Mr Cowen, however, defended his record on the economy and said the international credit crisis, not the Irish Government, was to blame.
He also insisted that the Government was taking action to address job losses.
