Cork gardaí investigate city stabbing

Gardaí in Cork have launched an investigation after a man in his mid-20s suffered serious stab wounds in an attack in the city this afternoon.

The man was attacked in Ardcullen in Hollyhill at around 5pm. He suffered a stab wound to the neck and was rushed to Cork University Hospital.

It is understood the man's injuries are serious. He is undergoing emergency surgery to stablise his condition.

Gardaí have cordoned off the scene and an examination has begun.
