Controlled explosion on car abandoned in Co Down

A security alert which was launched in Co Down last night has ended.

Army bomb experts were called to examine a suspicious car left in the Wood Road area of Castlewellan at around 9pm last night.

A number of people were evacuated from their homes.

A controlled explosion was carried out, but police said nothing untoward was found.
