CAO expects 20,000 to miss out on college places

A record number of CAO applicants are expected to get no offers of college places this year.

Due to an unprecedented number of CAO applications this year, it is believed around 20,000 students will lose out on a place in college.

So far more than 43,000 students have accepted offers in the first round - that is 1,000 more than last year - but with high numbers applying a large number of students will be disappointed.
