Campaigners seek environmental agency in the North

Green campaigners are demanding that the power-sharing Stormont Executive establish an environmental protection agency in the North.

Environment Minister Arlene Foster is due to announce a decision later today removing responsibility for environmental protection from the British government.

However, she is expected to stop short of setting up an independent body.

Friends of the Earth says it will take a case to the European Commission if they are not happy with what she proposes.
