Bus Éireann halts strike action for 48 hours

Bus Éireann has said that as many services as possible will operate as normal tomorrow after members of the National Bus and Rail Union and management agreed to a 48 hour halt to strike action.

The Labour Relations Commission has laid out recommendations for both sides in a bid to resolve the dispute sparked by the introduction of €5m worth of cuts.

NBRU members have been on strike for the past two days - leaving thousands of passengers stranded after 95% of Bus Eireann services suspended.

Both sides were invited to talks at the LRC this evening.

"The outcome has been that the Labour Relations Commission has given us a road map if you like into how to structure the talks with Bus Éireann to try and end the impasse that has arisen and the row we are having at present," said Willie Noone of SIPTU.
