Billy Kelleher and Anne Rabbitte added to Fianna Fáil ticket for European elections

TDs Billy Kelleher and Anne Rabbitte have been added to the Fianna Fáil ticket for the European elections.

Cork TD Billy Kelleher will contest in Ireland South alongside Councillor Malcolm Byrne from Wexford.

Anne Rabbitte, TD for Galway East, will run in the Midlands North West constituency with TD for Cavan–Monaghan Brendan Smyth.

The two Deputies were added to the tickets after losing in their local selection conventions.

Fianna Fáil also added two new Councillors to the party, both of whom sit on South Dublin County Council.

Cllr Jonathan Graham joined Fianna Fáil today after resigning from Sinn Féin last year, while Cllr Deirdre O’Donovan, a former independent councillor, became a member of the party a few weeks ago.

Party leader Micheál Martin said the pair "will add significantly" to the team on South Dublin County Council.

“Their decision to join the party provides a great boost to members both locally and nationally, and is a clear indication of the widespread appeal of the Fianna Fáil offering," he said.

“The party is seeking to increase the gains we made in the last local elections in 2014 and I wish all of the candidates in Dublin and around the country every success in aiming to ensure that we build on our current representation and solidify our position as the largest party in local government”.
