B3 Cables to close in Longford

It has been confirmed B3 Cables in Co Longford is to shut up shop with the loss of more than a hundred jobs.

The decision was confirmed this evening by the receiver, Alan Flanagan.

He told workers at the plant that efforts to sell the business have been unsuccessful and it will now go into liquidation.

The company, which manufactures copper cable, went into receivership two weeks ago.
