Athy to get Ploughing Championships for third year in a row

The Ploughing Championships are to return to Athy in Co Kildare next year for the third year running to mark the event's 80th anniversary.

Up to 182,000 people attended the National and European Championships in Cardenton over the last three days, with a crowd of 42,000 for the final day today.

Next year's event will take place from Tuesday, September 20 to Thursday, September 22.
