Appeal for witnesses after fatal Cavan hit-and-run

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run incident in Co. Cavan that claimed the life of a 19-year-old girl.

Gardaí say this incident happened at 3.50am this morning.

The 19-year-old girl was struck by a car on the N3 at Bailieboro, on the Kells side of Virginia.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area in the early hours of this morning to come forward.

In particular they are anxious to speak to a man who phoned Bailieboro Garda Station at around 4 am.

The road is closed for a technical examination and motorists are being advised that diversions are in place.
