Adams: RTE 'negligent' with fake Martin McGuinness tweet

Gerry Adams has said RTE were "negligent" in revealing a fake Martin McGuinness tweet during a televised Presidential debate.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has upheld a complaint made on behalf of Sean Gallagher over the bogus tweet on RTE’s 'Frontline' programme.

The authority has criticised the inclusion of information which was not verified before it was put to the independent candidate on live television - days before the Presidential election.

Speaking in Cork where he met Vita Cortex protesters, the Sinn Féin President said it would not have been difficult for RTE to verify the tweet.
