Abortion row erupts after Lisbon comments

The Irish Alliance for Europe has today called on the Referendum Commission to clarify what effect, if any, the Lisbon Treaty has on Ireland's laws against abortion.

The head of the anti-Lisbon group Libertas, Declan Ganley, has claimed the treaty could affect Ireland's stance on abortion.

However, the Alliance for Europe says this is not the case and is calling on Mr Ganley to retract his comments.
