350 Tesco Ireland staff accept voluntary redundancy

Up to 350 staff at Tesco Ireland have taken voluntary redundancy.

The company has described the move as an effort to improve customer service.

The job losses are amongst night-time staff, while others who currently pack shelves at night will be moved to day time hours.

However, according to Tesco all but 90 of the roles vacated through the voluntary redundancy scheme will be backfilled.

Earlier, it was confirmed that sales at the supermarket dropped by 5.5% in Ireland over the Christmas period.
