18-year-old assaulted in Kildare

Gardai will be examining CCTV footage as part of their investigation into an attack on a young woman in County Kildare.

The 18 year old was found injured on the footpath at the entrance of the Moyglare Abbey Estate in Maynooth shortly before 8.30 last night.

It's understood she had walked about a kilometre between the point where she got off a bus and the point where she was found.

She received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination and no arrests have been made.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
