12-year-old girl found in Dublin in suspected trafficking ring

Gardaí investigating a suspected people trafficking ring have discovered a young Nigerian girl at a house in Dublin.

Members of the Garda National Immigration Bureau found the 12-year-old girl during a search of a house in Castleknock on Thursday.

She has since been taken into care.

As part of a cross-border immigration inquiry members of the Garda National Immigration Bureau carried out searches at a number of premises in Dublin, Louth, Meath and Kildare last week.

On Friday police in the North charged a 51-year-old man with six counts of facilitating unlawful immigration into a member state.

He was arrested on Thursday after the police raided two houses in Lisburn, and is due to appear in court in Lisburn on Tuesday.

A man in his 30s, who was also arrested, has now been released.
