10% rise in cancer-survival rates discussed at national conference

The major increase in cancer survival is the subject of a national conference taking place in Dublin today.

Figures from the National Cancer Registry reveal a rise of nearly 10% in survival rates for all cancers in Ireland over the past decade.

Cancer experts, HSE representatives and GPs will discuss how to improve on the continuing growth in the number of people surviving cancer.

CEO of the Irish Cancer Society John McCormack said it was important to take stock and also to prepare for the predicted increase in cancer as people live longer:
