'Welcome to the Sticks' could pass you by

Director: Dany Boon

Cast: Dany Boon, Zoe Felix, Kad Merad

Cert: 12

From France a comedy that might have been sub-titled 'Lost in Translation' … unless you fully understand the language, the film will pass you by.

The story involves Merad as a postal worker who, prompted by his wife, applies for a posting to the sunny south but is sent, instead, to the chilly north.

Surprisingly he quite likes it – even if he doesn’t quite get to grips with the natives and their funny little ways – and decides to stay.

The fun lies, perhaps, in just how he misunderstands the locals but somehow this fails to come through on screen.

Star Rating: 3/5
