Sarah Lancashire, Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid will all return for a two-part Christmas special of Last Tango In Halifax.
Set two years after the death of her wife Kate, the episodes will see Caroline, played by Sarah Lancashire, coming to terms with more changes in her life, including a new job at a different school, a new family home and a potential new love interest.
Nicola Walker also returns as Gillian, who is struggling to come to terms with the unusual activity happening in the barn.
The two one-hour specials, written by creator Sally Wainwright, have already begun production and Sarah said: “It’s brilliant to be back filming Last Tango In Halifax again and to be back with everyone.
“This Christmas special is a very eventful one and it will be great to see how everyone’s lives have changed over the past two years.”
The third series of the Bafta-winning BBC One drama was watched by an average of 7.4 million viewers.
Nicola Shindler, founder and executive producer of Red Production Company, said: “Sally has created an absolutely fantastic two-part special, with a very engaging plot and a brilliant combination of comedy and drama.
“We can’t wait to share this much-loved show with fans over the festive period.”
