Wahlberg tipped for 'Crow' remake

Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role in a remake of 'The Crow'.

The 39-year-old actor - best known for his work on movies 'Planet of the Apes' and 'Boogie Nights' - could step into the role made famous by the late Brandon Lee in the 1994 fantasy thriller movie in a remake directed by 'Blade' filmmaker Stephen Norrington.

Musician Nick Cave has been working on a rewrite of the project.

The new movie will take place in Detroit, Bloody Disgusting reports.

'The Crow' tells the tale of Eric Draven, a man who is brutally murdered and returns to life as an undead killer intent on the avenging his death.

Mark - formerly known as 90s rapper Marky Mark - has starred in two comedies so far this year, 'The Other Guys' and 'Date Night', but will next be seen as boxer 'Irish' Mickey Ward in David O. Russell's sports biopic 'The Fighter', due for release in December.
