Twitter reacts to One Direction cancelling gig in Belfast minutes before it was set to begin

Thousands of One Direction fans were left inconsolable after the band cancelled their Belfast gig just minutes before it was set to begin.

Fans as young as five, dressed to toe in 1D swag, burst into tears as a spokesperson appeared on stage to break the news.

"The show tonight has been cancelled as Liam has taken ill, and whilst not serious , he is unable to perform tonight,” Aiken Promotions have said in a recent statement on their website.

Some fans travelled up to eight hours to attend the gig, waited up to 12 hours to enter the arena and spent hundreds of euros on tickets - as you can imagine, they're are not happy.

Northern Irish TV presenter Eamonn Holmes has since taken to Twitter to slam the band over how they handled the unfortunate suituation.

It has since been rumored that Liam Payne may be suffering from food poisoning, although it's his second no-show in a week after he was unable to attend the Attitude Magazine Awards due to illness.
