Tom Jones’ wife of 59 years has died of cancer

The tragic news was announced on Jones’ Facebook page just one week after the singer cancelled his entire Asian leg of his tour.

"Sir Tom Jones’ wife of 59 years, Lady Melinda Rose Woodward, passed away Sunday morning, April 10, after a short but fierce battle with cancer,” the statement reads.

“Surrounded by her husband and loved ones, she passed away peacefully at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

“Sir Tom and his family have asked for privacy at this difficult time and no further information is currently available”.

The couple were childhood sweethearts and started dating in 1956 at the age of 15 before marrying a year later when they were both 16.

That same year, their son Mark was born who is now the famous singers manager.

Tom is due to play Live At The Marquee in Cork on Tuesday, July 12.
