The 7 things we learnt about Bruno Mars on Carpool Karaoke

In case you somehow managed to miss it, Bruno Mars was on James Corden’s The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke, and it was one of the best things we have ever seen. Ever.

They sang, they danced, they dressed up, they tried to impersonate Elvis Presley, and they even had a poker face-off in just 15 minutes of pure TV gold.

We learnt a lot about the Uptown Funk singer, and we just want to make your day by sharing the best bits.

1. Wearing a huge amount of gold bling and silk can be cool…

…If you’re Bruno Mars. Commenting on the singer’s swanky outfit, James said he would look like he was “having a breakdown” if he tried to copy the look, but couldn’t resist copping a feel of Bruno’s super smooth garms.

He also couldn’t help giving it a go anyway, rounding off the clip in a purple, be-capped combo and said he “never felt more alive”.

2. He wears hats because of his secret hair shame.

Because he doesn’t “know what to do” with his curly locks, apparently. It’s pretty lucky, then, that he has a good head for hats and can even pull off a fancy bright blue ladies number with zebra trim.

3. He can spontaneously harmonise on both singing and dancing.

James blared out hit after hit from Bruno’s life work and they absolutely killed each one on both vocals and car seat moves. Basically, they need to collaborate on an album and a tour, and we need tickets now.

4. He’s known he was made for the stage since he was four.

It often takes musicians a few years of lessons before they realise they’ve found their calling, but Bruno knew what he wanted to do since he took to the stage with a tot’s impersonation of Elvis. We can only imagine how cute that was!

5. He still had to gamble his way to paying the bills.

It doesn’t always work out all the time, and Bruno revealed that there was a period where he had to play cards to make money for his rent when living in LA. He proved to James, and the rest of us, that his poker face is still on point.

6. His own brand of seduction isn’t for everyone…

His steamy track, Versace On The Floor, reveals exactly how Bruno plays it behind closed doors, but James had more than a few problems with it.

Bruno tried to show him how to work the shoulders but poor James said he felt his own attempts “would not arouse a woman” and could only conclude that “you and I are very different in the bedroom”. The suggestive lip-licking didn’t look too great on him either.

7. Bruno needs wine and wet wipes in his dressing room.

He didn’t go into too much detail about what he wanted these key ingredients for, but somehow the pair of them managed to incorporate them on the spot into a new song – which we would like to see on that aforementioned fantasy album, please.

You can hear the sneak preview about 10 minutes into the video – and you are welcome.
