Sir Bob Geldof held an intimate wedding ceremony on the French Riviera

The Live Aid organiser reportedly wed French actress Jeanne Marine on Saturday, despite previous reports they married in April.

According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, Bob, 63, and Jeanne, 49, simply signed paperwork at the time but celebrated their union today with guests including Bob's daughters Fifi and Pixie, and Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.

A source said: "In France a formal wedding usually has two parts, and this weekend was the main event.

"It's quite an intimate affair. Bob doesn't really go in for all of that celebrity excess. He just likes to be around his closest friends and family."

The small ceremony took place at a beachfront house near Nice, France, at around 5pm with a reception held after.

The source added: "It was a great party, and nobody enjoyed themselves more than Bob and Jeanne. It's lovely to see a smile back on Bob's face after such a tough couple of years."

Bob's nuptials come 18 months after the death of his daughter Peaches Geldof, one of his three daughters with late TV presenter Paula Yates.
