Riverdance event for The Gathering is largest on the calendar

The largest event in 'The Gathering' calendar kicks off in Dublin today.

A weekend celebrating Riverdance will be launched this morning by some of the show's most famous faces, including dancer Jean Butler and the show's creators, Moya Doherty and John McColgan.

The weekend will see a range of activities such as 'Riverdance Masterclasses' and an attempt to create the longest Riverdance line on Dublin's quays.

Aine Kavanagh from The Gathering Ireland said "it celebrates the impact that Riverdance has had on the world in promoting Irish music and dance."
