Denise Richards says her two daughters had a “fantastic” time with their father Charlie Sheen before he allegedly trashed a hotel room.
The actress was in New York with her ex-husband and their two girls, Sam, six, and five-year-old Lola, over the weekend and despite the actor being taken to hospital to undergo psychiatric evaluation, Denise says the girls have happy memories of their time together.
She told website PopEater: "They think they had a fantastic trip in New York with mommy and daddy and that their dad went home early.
"They went shopping, we took them to the museum together, we took them to 'Mary Poppins' so they had a great trip."
On Tuesday Charlie was found "drunk and naked" with an escort in his hotel room and was taken to the New York Hospital to undergo psychiatric evaluation after allegedly trashing his suite at the city's Plaza Hotel.
However, Denise says she is not dwelling on the situation and is just concentrating on protecting her daughters.
She said: "It is what it is. I can't change what happened. All I can do is move forward and keep my girls protected from the situation and that's what I'm doing.
"I'm so grateful that they're still young enough to not know what's going on."
Meanwhile, it has been revealed the escort in Charlie’s room at the time of the alleged incident is a porn star named Christina Walsh.
However, her father, Paul Walsh, is unaware of what his daughter does for a living, telling RadarOnline.com: "I'm not quite sure exactly what she does. I always talk to her and she says, why do we have to talk about money?"
"I honestly don't know about her private life.”
Charlie, 45, has played down the incident – in which he allegedly trashed the room after accusing Christina of stealing his wallet – saying it had been “overblown”.
A spokesperson for the actor has claimed the incident was down to an "allergic reaction" to medication.
In August, Charlie pleaded guilty to misdemeanour assault on his estranged wife Brooke Mueller last Christmas Day.
He was sentenced to 30 days in rehab and given a 30-day suspended prison sentence after agreeing a plea bargain deal.
He was also sentenced to three months' probation and must complete 36 hours of domestic violence counselling.
