Price's debut solo single set to flop

Katie Price’s latest bid for musical stardom looks to be a huge flop – as chart figures showed today she will fail to even make the top 40.

The glamour model has been on a publicity blitz this week with interviews and TV appearances to drum up interest in her dance track 'Free To Love Again'.

But midweek chart placings show she is on course to make only number 59 following the release of the single on Monday.

Price issued the track as a download-only release and said she hoped her fans would be “dancing to it all summer long”.

The song was her debut solo single. She previously charted with ex-husband Peter Andre in 2006 with 'A Whole New World'.

Prior to that she had made a disastrous attempt to represent the UK for the Eurovision Song Contest, with her song 'Not Just Anybody', performing in a skintight catsuit while pregnant and struggling to hit the right key.

Earlier this week, she said: “If it does well, that would be brilliant, but as long as people like it.

“I’m doing it because I enjoy doing it, it’s not like it’s my main job and I need to get to number one to get signed up by a record company.”

Gennaro Castaldo of music retailer HMV said: “Katie Price is obviously a hugely successful celebrity who knows how to engage with her fans, particularly when it comes to her books, DVDs and other merchandise, but some people seem to be drawing a line when it comes to her singing.”

B.O.B. featuring Hayley Williams look likely to claim the number one spot on Sunday with the single 'Airplanes'.
