One of Charles Dickens’ most popular stories is given a new spin by Roman Polanski in Oliver Twist (Pathe, €24.99).
Polanski vividly recreates 19th century London where orphan Oliver falls in with a gang of child thieves and meets some rather menacing characters.
Ben Kingsley is especially memorable as arch thief Fagin, but it’s Polanski’s cool direction which lingers in the mind. A bunch of featurettes flesh out the title, but the best is an interview with Polanski.
